New Artisan Skill: Learning to Screenprint with Ikarus

We've got some exciting news! One of our artisans, Herminia, recently finished a five week course with Ikarus Taller, an institute in Lima that offers workshops and courses on screen-printing. Joy Susano, owner and founder of Ikarus, was kind enough to welcome Herminia into his course.

We are so thankful for the generosity of the Ikarus workshop and Joy for giving Herminia the time, space and tools to learn a new skill. Please learn more about Ikarus, and give them a "like" on Facebook here

Herminia caught on quickly (no surprise there!), went in as many times as she could for extra practice and private instruction, and learned how to screen-print beautiful artwork onto textiles.

The next step? Herminia plans to start her own screenprinting workshop in her very own home.  Be on the lookout for a new line of Huaywasi clothing, incorporating Herminia's screen printing, coming at you soon! Until then, check out some of Herminia's other work, like this Nochebuena Stocking, a perfect decoration for the Holidays. They're available in large and mini sizes, in both red and green traditional Peruvian fabric!
